Island Voices Chamber Choir Warms Up for the Holiday Season

As the days grow shorter and the nights grow colder, Island Voices Chamber Choir is preparing to delight audiences and get them into the Christmas spirit with their upcoming concert entitled “Yuletide by the Fireside.”

Under the direction of Jo-Anne Preston, the 21 voice choir will perform a wide variety of sacred and secular choral music that will set the tone for this holiday season. From tasteful arrangements of old favourites such as “Silent Night” and a jazzy version of “Jingle Bells” to “Angelus ad Pastores Ait”, a 16th century Latin motet, this Yuletide concert is sure to please audiences of all ages and tastes in music.

Since its beginning in 1996, Island Voices has contributed to Vancouver Island’s lively musical scene, drawing talent from the Comox Valley, Campbell River and Quadra Island. The tight-knit group sings mostly a cappella, has toured the West Coast, and won awards.

The Campbell River concert will be held at 8 pm on Friday, December 2nd at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. This will include a reception after the concert where audiences are invited to partake in delicious refreshments and a chat with choir members as they enjoy the stunning venue. Advance tickets are available at the Campbell River Visitors’ Centre.

Comox Valley audiences are warmly invited to attend the second concert which takes place at 7:30 pm on Sunday, December 4th at the Comox United Church, 250 Beach St. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at Laughing Oyster Books in Courtenay, or at Videos ’n More! in Comox.
